That’s All I Can Spare: A Poem on Faith, Poverty, and Grace
That’s All I Can Spare
Help me out.
A dollar, sir?
Anything you can spare, sir.
A meal at McDonald’s.
But you are so beautiful, child…
I don’t quite understand…
I am not well, sir.
The Father is dead, sir.
I loved you, Lord Jesus, but you abandoned me.
No, I haven’t. Here is your money.
That’s all I can spare.
…and yet, you are so beautiful still.
I don’t understand.
Buen provecho, miss.
Que Dios se lo pague.
