A Silvery-Scarlet Moon: A Poem of Longing, Solitude, and Unanswered Calls
“This is my letter to the World That never wrote to Me—”
— Emily Dickinson, This is my letter to the World
A Silvery-Scarlet Moon
…I glance at the partially
shrouded sky over the vast urban sprawl
where the specter of a silvery-scarlet moon
overwhelms the heavens
I don’t want anyone else to see it. It is mine, mine alone
I wonder if elsewhere this same moon is hers as well,
and whether she might be willing to share it with me tonight
In the meantime, I sit here waiting for the phone call–
that never came
that ne,,ver ca,,,me…
